What Are You hiding? (Psalm 73; 77-78)

We will not hide them from their children,
    but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
    and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4

Last weekend in Houston Texas, Pastor Ed Young Jr. interviewed Dr. Phil McGraw during their Sunday morning services. The interview centered around Dr. Phil’s new book. The premise of the book is that God’s people need to speak to the mess the world is in. At one point Dr. Phil said, “80% of Americans remain silent in the onslaught of lies that are being generated by those who believe a false narrative of life.”

As I heard that statement I immediately thought of this well now statement, “all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.” In my minds eye it seems as if the 80% are hiding what they believe. Friends, what are we hiding?

I believe God is asking the same question in Psalm 78. Psalm 78 challenges its readers to share with the world what we know about God. God teaches us who He is, what He does, what He has done, and what He will do in the days to come.

One might ask, why does God want us to know this things and why does He want us to share these things? God calls us to do this things so that the next generation might know Him. Yes, this is truth not just for information but for transformation.

⁷     so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments, 78:7.

Friends, it seems that these truths are being hidden from our nation. Before our very eyes our nation is being transformed into chaos by the confusion of people who are deceived. It is a certainty that our society is headed toward collapse unless the church begins to share what we know.

The truth of the gospel is transforming, Rom. 1:16-17. It must be delivered by people who have been transformed by its truth. Let us be like David in his day who,

With upright heart he shepherded them
    and guided them with his skillful hand. 78:72

This very morning I prayed for my life and for your life to be transformed by the truth so that we would touch many life with what we have come to know!!!
