What Will You Say? (Ezekiel 1-4)

11 And go to the exiles, to your people, and speak to them and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ whether they hear or refuse to hear.” Ezekiel 3:11

Each person, no matter where they are from, possesses unique sayings that come from their culture. I know that I have phrases that just seem to pop up in my mind because they were said almost daily in my formative years. When those sayings pop up, I must decide if those sayings are helpful for the people I am with. I cannot speak to your sayings, but I can speak to mine:

  • Sometimes those sayings are appropriate in lifting the spirits in a room.
  • Sometimes those sayings are not appropriate because they could fuel a firestorm in a room.
  • Sometimes those says have no power in the room.

Brothers and sisters, I am convinced that only a Word from God can change the course of people’s lives. The Apostle Peter, early on in his walk with Jesus said, “Jesus alone has the words of life,” John 6:68.

The prophet Ezekiel heard from the Lord in his day (1:1). The Lord spoke to him (2:1). The Lord said, “I am sending you to your own people (2:3, 3:4-6). The Lord said, your people are rebellious and stubborn (2:2-8). But do not let this stop you, go and speak the word I give you (2:8).

Brothers and sisters, Ezekiel had to make a choice. Either he would speak the Words of God or he would speak other words. Oh how I pray that we would make the choice Ezekiel made. When we make the correct choice the following happens:

  1. We receive the Word of the Lord.
  2. We pay close attention to every detail.
  3. We go to those the Word of the Lord is intended for.

This is how God spoke this to Ezekiel:

10 Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears. 11 And go to the exiles

Ezekiel went and he got up-close and personal with the people. For 7 days he sat astonished at what he saw. It would do you and I well to ask God to let us feel the weight of a lost world. It would due us well to wait for God’s answers to the darkness in our world. It would do us well to go, filled with the Spirit, carrying God’s Word to the world.

Please listen, God has something to say. Please listen, God has something He wants you to say!

I love Johns words from I John 3:18 “Let us not love in word (our words) and talk, but in deed and truth (speaking God’s Word).”

2 questions:

  1. What are you speaking to others?
  2. How can you gather a crowd to hear from Heaven?
