Looking forward to what is next (Acts 13)

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Acts 13:2

It’s true, you have made it!  The previous statement applies to everyone who has followed our study on the life of Jesus in the gospel of Mark.  For 52 weeks FBC Jackson has been sitting at the feet of Jesus.  Each week we have been challenged by our reading plan and questions from each day.  God has changed many lives this year.

For example, I was talking on the phone with a precious senior lady in our church.  She said: “I have never studied so much in one year in my life. I have never dug so deep in God’s Word.”  She went to say, “I have never grown as much as I have this year.”

What a testimony of someone who, in their senior years of life, is still looking forward to what is next!  I believe the following is so true:

True significance is the prized possession of the one who follows the will of God.

Brothers and sisters, as we complete 2018 and look forward to 2019, God is calling us to go deeper and go farther than we have ever gone with Jesus.  God always wants us to go deeper and farther with Him. This was the case with Barnabas and Paul in Acts 13.  Both brothers were faithfully following the will of God where they were.  But now God had another mission for them.

The good news is this, they obeyed the will of God.  They carried the gospel where God had called them to go.  The church was with them. The Bible said, “They sent them out.”

As we approach a new year, I have written a book entitled, “What’s Next.”  This book seeks to lead us to see what God has for us in this new year. I am excited about continuing to do what God has called us to do.

I want to challenge you to walk with us as we seek to do what is next!!!  If you would like a copy of our new book and the 2019 reading plan, you can order both at our website, http://www.jacksonfbc.com
