What Is Your Plan (Acts 21)

14 And since he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.” Acts 21:14

A couple of days ago I was preaching at a local pastor’s conference when Sherry texted me with a question that I responded to.  Then she responded with this question: “What is your plan?”

Let me ask you this same question: “What is your plan?”

In Acts 21 the followers of Christ who loved Paul attempted to talk him of the plan’s he had.  The plans were simple:

  • Travel to Jerusalem, Vs:1-8.
  • Testify of God’s work, Vs: 17-20.
  • Listen to the wisdom of James, Vs: 21-26.
  • Be assaulted by misinformed people, Vs: 27-36.
  • Speak to the mob concerning the gospel, Vs: 37-40.

I don’t know about you but for me that is a very busy plan.  The Bible records, “they tried to talk Paul out of this plan.”  It was not that they did not care about God’s plan, it was they cared about Paul’s well-being!

The truth is, there are many well-meaning people who will talk you out of God’s will because of their desire for you and I not to suffer.  But be assured, suffering is a part of our walk with Christ. When this group could not talk Paul out of this plan they said, “let the will of the Lord be done.”

Brothers and sisters, “This is my plan for this day and every day!!!” I hope it is yours as well.  Check out the awesome words the following song, “Thy will be done!”

I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words

Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done

I know you’re good
But this don’t feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It’s hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you’re God
And I am not
So

Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will

I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store
I know you hear me
I know you see me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Good news you have in store

So, thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord.
