The Right Person At The Right Time (Genesis 47: Lk. 1:1-38

“And when the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food,”  Genesis 47:15

“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.  And the Lord will give him to the throne of his father David.”  Luke 1:33

In each step of one’s journey in life, God seems to place the right people at the right time.  It happened recently to a young seminary student.  My family met him at a restaurant.  In the course of conversation I invited him to church.  Little did he know, but as he would come that he would meet the woman who was to become his wife.  They are now expecting their first child.

Our readings in both the Old Testament and the New Testament teach us about the very same truth.  Joseph was in the right place at the right time because God had placed him here.  Mary was in the right place at the right time, to be used of God, to become the mother of Jesus.  John the Baptist was in the right place at the right time to become the one who would prepare the way for Jesus.

But above all of these people stands Jesus who came at the right time and he was the right person.  The fact is, He alone could be the right person to redeem us.

I must confess that I found myself praising God for those he has placed in my life.  Most of all I thank God for Jesus who is the only right person who could deliver us at the right time.

These days consider two take aways:  1.  Spend time praising God for those people he has placed in your life.  2.  Spend time emailing, calling, or texting to personally thank those God has used in your life!!!
