The Carcass Of The Mighty

The title of this blog probably may seem strange, but be assured the word will clear it all up for you.  “And you shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteer, with mighty men and all kinds of warriors, declares the Lord,” Ezekiel 39:20.

Here in Ezekiel 39, the prophet of God is told to speak to the  birds of every sort and to the beast of the field.  The great battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38 and 39 has been prophesied.  After this battle, which is still to be fought in the tribulation period, the nation of Israel will spend, “Seven months in the burying to cleanse the land,” 39:12. I cannot imagine the devastation of so many people dying in this great battle.

The book of Revelation, chapter 19 contains the same decree to the birds and the beast of prey.  Imagine the millions who will die and they will die without Christ.

The carcass of the mighty and the carcass of the miserable will be side by side.  This morning as you approach your day, pay close attention to the people you encounter.  Many of them will die without Christ unless they hear the good news of the gospel.

Our hearts must become tender toward them.  We must get them to Jesus.  Think about Jesus as John saw Him in Revelation 1. “When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead.  But He laid His right hand on me, ‘saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and hades,” 1:17-19.

The late Adrian Rogers commented on this passage, “There are three types of people in the world “Those who are afraid, those who do not know enough to be afraid, and those who know the bible and do not have to be afraid.”

Brothers and sisters, I am not afraid for me, because I know Jesus and have a secure place in heaven.  Paul wrote to the Romans, “Nothing shall separate us from His love,” 8:31-39.  But I am afraid for the over 2 billion people who have never heard the gospel.  I do not want to see their carcass on the field of battle.  Even worse I do not want to know that they are in the flames of hell for eternity.

So, I offer you this challenge, “Spread the gospel with everyone you meet today.”  Begin at home and pray for the Lord of the harvest to give you the opportunity to share His gospel with the world in Jesus name.
